Summertime is here and so is the high temperatures but that doesn't stop the bass from biting on High Rock Lake. For some anglers the summer months bite can be tuff but for other they can figure it out and catch some really good bass.
Right now, the lake is down a couple feet which can help the bass bite a lot also with the lake being down it limits the location where bass can hide.
Early in the morning there should be a real good top water bite with either a Buzz Bait or Pop-R. The location can be anywhere right now because I noticed there is a lot of bait in the very back of pockets even though the lake is down. Since the bait is ball up a White Spinner Bait, Chatter Bait or Shad Colored Crank Bait could catch some really good ones if they start to feed on the shad. But I believe your points with deep water near them maybe the best location to catch a "Really Good Bass" right now cause the bass can pull up to feed and then move back to the deeper water.
You need to also take in the factors of the sun light conditions. If there has been numerous days prior of high sun light conditions you may want to be hitting the ends of deep dock. In the early morning again moving baits Spinner Baits, Buzz Baits, Pop-R, or Chatter Baits. As the day progresses around docks you need to go to a slow fall bait like a Senko or my favorite this time of year the plain old Black Trick Worm pegged with a light weight.
The last 2 days I have caught over 20 bass with my biggest being 5 1/2 pounds and all of them came from a Black Trick Worm and a Black South African Trick Worm. The key to fishing these baits is SLOW DOWN!!! Once that heat gets up the fish are just like humans, they are drained from the hot water conditions and not really wanting to chase.
Last tip and you can go catch those big bass always this time of year once the sun gets up be hitting those deeper points with rock bottoms or stumps with the 3/4 oz Jigs, Carolina Rig, or A Monster Worm.
Most importantly remember to have fun and enjoy God's Great Creation!! I hope you catch the Big One Today...
